Even Eggs are Trendy;)

This is no eggstraodinary post!  (I couldn't help myself;)  I have had these little paper mache eggs laying around for weeks and had different plans for them...Probably a better plan really but I don't know that I will get around to it.  So in an effort to not let them go untouched before Easter I broke out the paints!

These paper eggs were 40% off of 8.00.

There were 12 in the bag.

I honestly wasn't sure what I wanted to do with them after I got them all painted up and I was trying to figure out how I would let them dry without rolling all over the place but as I was digging around and ran across these in my messy crafting cabinet.

They are wood spool things(obviously I'm not sure what they are for) left from a project that I didn't get around to at  Christmas;)  You see how my ideas are shot down by lack of hours in the day?;)  Oh well, maybe next Christmas!

This would not only help me have a place to dry them but I just paint these guys up too and make a simple display for the eggs.

For some reason I can't get "into" lots of bunnies and fluff for Easter.  That may change someday and actually maybe it should now because I'm sure the kids would love it!  But...for now simple little hints of Easter are the way things are going around here.

Here are some close ups of what else but some Ombre, Chevron, and Ombre mixed with Chevron uncrackable, never gonna rot Easter Eggs!

So there you go...

It's a trendy piece of mantle art!
Except I can't remember to get a pic in good lighting on the mantle;)

Oh but wait!  I didn't leave the kids out....

Here is there version

Bitty baby's on the left, little man, then miss ballerina's on the right.

Love them!

Spring it Up!

Well can you believe Spring is upon us?!  I love love love it!  We have finally had quite a bit of rain in our area and things are blooming like crazy.  Our highways are covered in bluebonnets,  the grass is greener than it's been in a long time and when the weather is this awesome people are just happier don't ya think?

If we weren't in such a temporary living situation right now I would be very tempted to spring up our casa a lot more.  (I must admit as much as I like decorating it has been kind of nice to be in this temporary state of mind..aka...don't buy a thing we don't really need for the house because we don't have room and truth be told we don't NEED it)  So I will live vicariously through "pretend" decorating via the wide world of web;)

So in order to get some spring decorating out of my system I contributed a spring moodboard to the Zinc Door Spring Color Design contest on Olioboard.

.

and here is what I came up with...

I tried to keep it doable for almost anyone's current furniture situation by taking really neutral furnishings and just changing up the accessories to make a really fun and springy living room.  Even if you have little to no budget I think you could put this together.  I can picture taking some green paint to a jute or sisal rug, spray painting some fun funky old lamps, and adding some bright pillows.  I would love to see this room everyday when I get home!  Would you?

If you like this room it would tickle my fancy (is that something naughty?  If it is ignore it...I get my sayings all mixed up;) if you would click on my "Spring it Up" board above and vote for it in the Zinc Door Spring contest.  Purty Please!!!

I wish I had a "Spring" in my step but this will have to do!

Seriously, I DO get all giddy about this time of year!  Who doesn't?
But....I caught a mean ol' cold (probably from this snotty little daycare I live in) and it rocked my world!  I consider myself pretty tough.  Or should I say I think I have a fairly high pain threshold.  I mean I withstood having my wisdom teeth removed and 3 C-Sections without being sedated(yes I was numb so I guess there is no pain to be "tolerant" of) but I don't get that nervous about those kind of things.  This cold on the other hand wiped me out.  Hubs was leaving town for work and I had to ask my mom to drive 6 hours to help me take care of the little guys (that's how bad it was).  So not much has been going on around here.  Just functioning and making it through the days was a bonus!  I had been working out 6 days a week too...(I might just get up the nerve to blog about my attempt to transform my post baby bod someday...but I need to get my act together in a big way first;).  Anywho...that too has gone by the wayside as I have just focused on getting better.   But today I'm off from work and decided to try to spring up the casa a little.

Here is what our bland mantle has looked like the last several weeks.  You may recognize my "sphere knock offs" and the ball of flowers from my "wreath thingy majig" post.  It's fine but boring.

A couple of weeks ago I picked up a bag of these eggs at Hobby Lobby.  I had the glass container and of course I had the spagna moss.  I mean I have only used spagna moss in almost every little craftyish thing I've done this year.  It seems to be my go to item in my hideous craft armoire.  Which by the way I started to organize and never finished;)  It's the thought that counts right?

I put our yellow little catch all container that sits in the living room next to the jar O' eggs and
then I grabbed the yellow flowers from my nightstand in our bedroom for the other side.

You may recognize the yellow flowers from our little laundry room spruce up we did before we sold the house.  Oh wow...I forgot we have that picture packed away somewhere!  I should totally break that out for spring...I see a new mantle coming already.

Then I grabbed my trusty chalkboard penant or bunting ( I really don't know the difference;) and out of lazyness and not wanting to add another piece to it I chose the one 3 letter word that we can associate with Easter.  HOP! We just so happen to have tons of sidewalk chalk in nice Easter pastels so I could add just a tiny bit more color to the area.

You may recognize the bunting from our fall porch.

Can you tell I like to reuse and repurpose just a bit!  Taking things from around the house to change things up is a fun challenge for me.  I'm loving that this mantle cost me a whopping $3 for the eggs that were 50% off! Woohoo!
